Ducks' Rickard Rakell: Receives qualifying offer from Ducks

Rakell was extended a qualifying offer from the Ducks on Monday, Dhiren Mahiban of the New York Times reports.

Analysis:

Rakell posted career-high numbers across the board in his fourth season with the Ducks, recording 20 goals and 23 assists over 72 games. Rakell could've posted even higher numbers, but he ended up missing the final seven games of the season with an appendix issue. With the injury expected to be healed by the start of next season, the Ducks wanted to keep him around, so by offering him the qualifying offer, the team will be able to match any offers he receives on the open market. At just 23 years old, Rakell has plenty of potential to improve on his most recent breakout season.
