Avalanche's Tyson Barrie: Receives qualifying offer from Avalanche
Barrie was extended a qualifying offer from the Avalanche on Monday, Mike Chambers of the Denver Post reports.
Analysis:
There were some trade rumors surrounding Barrie earlier in the month, but GM Joe Sakic shot those down, saying the Avalanche were looking to keep Barrie around. The team backed up those words Monday by extending the qualifying offer, which gives the Avalanche the opportunity to match any offers given to Barrie once free agency opens. Barrie matched a career-high of 13 goals this past season, to go along with an impressive 36 assists. It appears likely the puck-moving defenseman will remain with the Avs.
