Hurricanes' Victor Rask: Receives qualifying offer from Hurricanes

Rask (shoulder) was tendered a qualifying offer from the Hurricanes on Monday.

Analysis:

The Hurricanes have long believed they would retain Rask for at least another season, with GM Ron Francis reaching out to Rask's agent about a month ago inquiring about a new contract. By offering him the qualifying offer, the Hurricanes can match any offer Rask sees on the open market, so it seems likely he'll remain with the organization. Rask posted career-highs of 21 goals and 27 assists in his second season with the Hurricanes and has plenty of upside at just 23 years old.
