Flames' Sean Monahan: Receives qualifying offer from Calgary

Monahan was extended a qualifying offer Monday by the Flames.

Monahan makes up a youthful core of players in Calgary that are turning the team into a serious playoff contender. Centering the dynamic Johnny Gaudreau, the 21-year-old tallied 27 goals and 36 assists while firing off 197 shots on goal. If the organization can't sign him to a long term deal on their own, they can certainly expect Monahan to receive a significant offer that they will be forced to match to avoid losing him.
