Red Wings' Drew Miller: Agrees to one-year contract

Miller (knee) signed a one-year contract extension Monday with Detroit.

Analysis:

Miller is 32 years old and coming off a season marred by significant injuries to his knee and jaw, but evidently the Wings aren't concerned about that moving forward. Miller is a penalty-killing specialist comfortable in Detroit's system. Since landing in the Motor City in 2009-10, he has generated 100 points in 449 games -- that might not cut it in the majority of fantasy leagues, but Miller helps the Wings with his versatility and solid defensive play.
