Jets' Mark Scheifele: Receives qualifying offer from Jets

Scheifele was extended a qualifying offer, making him a restricted free agent, Gary Lawless of TSN reports.

Analysis:

Scheifele has spent his entire five-year career with the Jets and is coming off a breakout season where he set career highs in goals (29) and points (61). He's only expected to get better in his sixth season, where he'd likely take on an even greater role for the Jets. The Jets will be able to match any offer that Scheifele receives on the open market, so there's a very high chance he'll remain with the team that drafted him seventh overall in the 2011 draft.
