Lightning select Brett Howden at No. 27

The Tampa Bay Lightning chose forward Brett Howden with the 27th overall pick in the 2016 NHL Draft on Friday night.

Howden notched 24 goals and 64 points in his third season with the WHL's Moose Jaw Warriors.

The Calgary native represented Canada twice at the Under-18 World Championship, collecting eight points in six tournament games in 2016.

Howden is listed at 6-2 and 192 pounds. The center was taken fifth overall by the Moose Jaw in the 2013 WHL draft.

His brother, Quinton, appeared in 58 games in his third campaign with the Florida Panthers who made him the 25th pick in 2010.
