Stars' Jordie Benn: Earns three-year extension

Benn signed a three-year contract extension with the Stars on Friday. Financial terms of the deal were not immediately disclosed.

Analysis:

Benn has come a long way considering that he originally signed with the Stars as an undrafted free agent in 2011. "Jordie has earned the trust of his teammates and the coaching staff, and he's taken advantage of every opportunity put in front of him during his career," said general manager Jim Nill. "His ability to play in a variety of roles make him valuable to our defensive depth and flexibility, and we're happy to have him locked up for the next three seasons." In his NHL career, Benn has produced nine goals, 47 assists and 95 PIM in 244 games spent exclusively with Dallas.
