Islanders' Frans Nielsen: Trying to work out a long term deal

Nielsen and the Isles are working towards a multi-year contract, Arthur Staple of Newsday reports.

Analysis:

It seems that general manager Garth Snow has decided that out of Kyle Okposo, Matt Martin, and Nielsen, the only one that might return to Brooklyn is Nielsen. The veteran two-way center is extremely valuable, good at both ends of the rink and also proved that he can be a viable wing to play with John Tavares. With free agency right around the corner, it would be in Snow's best interests to get a deal done as soon as possible.
