The Florida Panthers look ready to replace one veteran defenseman with another.

The club is not close to signing pending unrestricted free agent Brian Campbell, general manager Tom Rowe said, according to George Richards of the Miami Herald.

In the meantime, the club is apparently negotiating with defenseman Keith Yandle on a contract after acquiring his rights in a trade with the New York Rangers on Monday. Rowe also made a point of diffusing any rumors he is shopping defenseman Dmitry Kulikov.

Campbell has spent the last five years with the Panthers, collecting 28 goals and 175 points in 376 games.
