Blues' Scottie Upshall: Limited by thumb injury in playoffs

Upshall played with a broken and dislocated thumb for the last two series of the playoffs, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

Analysis:

Upshall reportedly sustained the ailment while facing the Blackhawks in Game 7 of the conference quarterfinals. The fourth-line forward wound up missing Games 3-5 of the conference finals against the Sharks but returned for the deciding match on May 25 and doled out five hits. Upshall implied that the injury affected his shot. "I was starting to become a passer," he said. "It was my top hand, so it restricted me a bit. Obviously I didn't feel my best puck handling but I got through it. It didn't get any worse, which is good." While it's nice to put some closure on Upshall's postseason injury, fantasy owners probably didn't miss a beat since his offensive upside was severely limited in the first place.
