Sharks Thornton among 7 added to Canada World Cup roster

San Jose Sharks veteran forward Joe Thornton was among the final seven players added to Canada's World Cup of Hockey Roster.

Thornton has helped the San Jose Sharks make their first Stanley Cup Final appearance. Thornton will be joined by Sharks defenseman Brent Burns.

The most notable player to fail to make the cut was Montreal defenseman P.K. Subban as all eight teams competing in the tournament completed their 23-player rosters on Friday.

Also selected to represent Canada were Los Angeles defenseman Jake Muzzin and St. Louis blue-liner Alex Pietrangelo. Rounding out the forward spots were Colorado's Matt Duchene, Philadelphia's Claude Giroux and Boston's Brad Marchand.

The tournament will be held in Toronto, starting in September.
