Panthers' Erik Gudbranson: Traded to Vancouver

The Panthers traded Gudbranson and a 2016 fifth-round pick to the Canucks in exchange for Jared McCann, a 2016 second-round pick and a 2016 fourth-round pick Wednesday.

Analysis:

The Panthers are fairly deep at defense, and the Canucks were in desperate need of a reliable big-bodied defender, so this deal makes sense for both sides. Gudbranson tallied nine points (two goals, seven assists) with a plus-3 rating over 64 games last season, and will likely slot into a top-four role with Vancouver in 2016-17. The 24-year-old blueliner isn't known for his offensive contributions, however, limiting his value in fantasy formats that don't count hits or blocked shots.
