Islanders' Jaroslav Halak: Will need offseason surgery
Halak (groin) will require surgery to repair a sport hernia, Arthur Staple of Newsday reports.
Analysis:
Halak was sidelined since early March and missed the Islanders last 29 contests including the playoffs. With 6-to-8 weeks of recovery time, the netminder should be ready to go for the start of the 2016-17 campaign. Although Thomas Greiss performed well in relief, you can expect Halak to reclaim the starting spot in New York after posting a 18-13-4 record that included three shutouts along with a .919 save percentage.
