Lightning's Ben Bishop: Avoids major injury

Bishop is considered day-to-day with a lower-body injury, Joe Smith of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Analysis:

Lightning fans and Bishop's owners can breathe a collective sigh of relief, as the Vezina Trophy finalist isn't expected to miss extended time with the lower-body injury that forced him to exit Friday's Game 1 against Pittsburgh on a stretcher. The 29-year-old backstop underwent X-rays Friday evening, which all came back negative, showing no signs of structural damage. Head coach Jon Cooper wasn't ready to name a starter for Monday's Game 2 when speaking to reporters Saturday, but if Bishop is unable to go, Andrei Vasilevskiy will likely get the start in goal. Those keeping tabs on Bishop's availability can expect an update on his status ahead of puck drop Monday evening.
