Lightning's Andrei Vasilevskiy: Picks up Game 1 relief win Friday

Vasilevskiy allowed a single goal on 26 shots of relief Friday in a 3-1 win over the Penguins in Game 1.

Analysis:

The Russian netminder was thrust into action for just the second time all postseason less than 13 minutes into Game 1, as starter Ben Bishop was stretchered off the ice with an apparent lower-body injury. Bishop's X-rays came back negative, so he could be back sooner than later, but Vasilevskiy looks to be the man in Tampa's crease for the time being. With an 8-2 record, a 1.89 GAA and .938 save percentage, Bishop has been arguably the best Bolt and netminder in the playoffs thus far, so the 21-year-old has some serious shoes to fill heading into Game 2 on Monday. In terms of regular-season performance, Vasilevskiy compiled a 11-10-0 record with a .910 save percentage and 2.76 GAA through 24 games in 2015-16, and got a small taste of postseason action with four appearances last year.
