Kings' Alec Martinez: Undergoes shoulder surgery

Martinez underwent shoulder surgery at the conclusion of the 2015-16 campaign and has an expected recovery time of three months, Jon Rosen of LA Kings Insider reports.

Analysis:

Martinez was reportedly bothered by shoulder discomfort for much of the season, but still managed to be one of the Kings' best defenseman in 2015-16, notching 31 points (10 goals, 21 assists) with a plus-16 rating over 78 games. The Michigan native is expected to be ready for next season's training camp.
