Islanders' Frans Nielsen: Open to remaining with the Islanders

Nielsen and the Islanders have yet to begin serious contract negotiations, Mark Herrmann of Newsday reports.

Analysis:

Nielsen has proven to be an extremely valuable two way player. He excels in both the offensive and defensive zone. Nielsen is coming off of a contract that paid him $2.75 million a season and although he just turned 32 years of age, he could command north of $4 million annually in free agency. That price range may force him out of Brooklyn.
