Panthers' Erik Gudbranson: Staying with Panthers

Gudbranson signed a one-year contract with the Panthers on Monday.

Analysis:

Gudbranson didn't light the lamp with any sort of consistency this season, however his defensive contributions were a major factor in Florida's decision to lock him in for another season. For the year, the blueliner averaged over 20 minutes per game of ice time including 3:34 on the penalty kill. The gritty 24-year-old also delivered a bone-crunching 150 hits and got in front of 73 shots to help keep opponents off the scoresheet. Gudbranson's contract will pay him $3.5 million for the 2016-17 campaign Chris Johnston of Sportsnet reports.
