Stars' Kari Lehtonen: Enters in second period in Game 3 loss

Lehtonen stepped in for Antti Niemi in the second period of a 6-1 loss to the Blues in Game 3, saving 24 of 27 shots that came his way.

Analysis:

Lehtonen was benched in Game 2, but coach Lindy Ruff may have been wishing he didn't trust Antti Niemi as the starter in this one. While the 32-year-old did give up three goals himself, the 2002 first-round pick had some noteworthy saves and should be trusted between the pipes moving forward. However, the Dallas netminder situation has been sticky all year, so don't be surprised if it changes quickly based on performance. Despite some inconsistency, Lehtonen does own a solid 2.29 GAA in seven appearances during the playoffs.
