Analysis:

The Lady Byng is an annual award handed out "to the player adjudged to have exhibited the best type of sportsmanship and gentlemanly conduct combined with a high standard of playing ability." Loui Eriksson of the Bruins and Aleksander Barkov of the Panthers are also in contention for the hardware. Jiri Hudler earned the honor last season as a member of the Flames. Kopitar could do quite well at the awards ceremony in Las Vegas on June 22, as he's also up for the Selke trophy for best defensive forward.
