Johan Larsson signed a one-year contract extension Friday, though financial terms were not disclosed.

Larsson signed a one-year contract extension Friday worth $950,000, reports TSN.ca.

Analysis:

By signing the extension, Larsson avoids restricted free agency this summer. After toiling in the AHL for most of the past two seasons, he found his groove in the second half of the season playing on a line with Brian Gionta and Marcus Foligno, but is still figuring out whether he wants to be a checker or scorer in the NHL. Similar to the previous season, Larsson ended his season on a strong note and finished with a career-high 17 points in 74 games.
