Kadri signed a six-year contract extension with the Maple Leafs on Wednesday.

Analysis:

TSN's Bob McKenzie notes that Kadri will earn $4.5 million annually over the six-year extension, which will kick in at the beginning of next season. Despite a subpar team around him, the 2009 first-round pick has still managed to collect a fair number of points (45 in 2015-16). The 25-year-old Kadri will remain at the heart of the Maple Leafs for a while longer, but his point rate likely won't increase until the other bodies on the team improve.
