The ink is barely dry on Thorgan Hazard's new deal with Borussia Monchengladbach, yet the Belgian midfielder is already talking about making a return to Stamford Bridge tp win a spot with Chelsea.

Hazard ended his time with the Premier League team in February after agreeing to a permanent deal with the Bundesliga team he'd been on loan with since the summer.

But a return to Chelsea appears to be Hazard's preferences following his comments to French newspaper Le Figaro.

"Now I've signed here I'm only focused on Monchengladbach. After this, playing at Chelsea remains a goal," Hazard said. "I hope that, in a few years, I can return and play there.

"First, I want to have a big season in a major league. I've not done that yet. I hope that, in a few years, I can have accomplished that. But for now, I'm only focused on Monchengladbach.

"If, one day, I want to play at Chelsea again I better play well. But first, I need to help the team achieve our goals."

Hazard could be on the verge of having a breakout season after an impressive half-season with Monchengladbach in a reserve role.

The 21-year-old has one goal and five assists through 19 appearances, primarily as a substitute, in the Bundesliga.
