Brazil will be without captain Thiago Silva for their semifinal matchup against Germany because the otherwise reliable defender did this really dumb thing in Brazil's quarterfinal match versus Colombia:
For no reason whatsoever, Silva interfered with Colombian goalkeeper's David Ospina's kick. He wasn't pushed. He just jumped in the way.
It's Silva's second yellow card of the tournament, and FIFA rules stipulate that he must miss his team's next match. Accumulated yellow cards reset after the quarterfinals, but that's too late to save Silva.
