Canada makes final cuts to World Junior team

Hockey Canada made eight final cuts to their World Junior team on Thursday to bring their roster to 23 players.

On defence, Mathew Dumba, Frank Corrado and Ryan Sproul were the final cuts. They joined forwards Hunter Shinkaruk, Tom Wilson, Mark McNeill and Daniel Catenacci along with goaltender Laurent Brossoit.

Canada will play two exhibition games in Helsinki, Finland to warm up for the final competition, which gets underway on Boxing Day in Ufa, Russia. The Canadians, who haven't won gold since 2009 and finished third in last year's tournament, open the competition against Germany.
