New Jersey Devils goalie Martin Brodeur is committed to playing in the 2013-14 season, regardless of how long the current NHL lockout lasts, according to The Bergen Record.

"That's the reason why I protected myself with the two-year deal just in case this was going to happen," Brodeur said. "I guess my gut feeling was pretty good."

Originally, it was believed that Brodeur would retire if the lockout extended the entire season. Now, Brodeur is ready to wait and he is even considering playing overseas, which is something he did not do during the 2004-05 lockout.

Brodeur spent his 2004-05 lockout taking part in a European exhibition tour, along with representing Canada in the World Championships.

"This time around I probably won't have that, so for me it's just maybe I'll find a place to be able to play just to keep my game going a bit," the 40-year-old said.
