Report: Flyers sign Simmonds to extension

The Philadelphia Flyers have signed forward Wayne Simmonds to a six-year contract extension, according to multiple sources.
Simmonds, who was heading into the final year of his two-year $3.5 million contract, was scheduled to become a restricted free agent following the 2012-13 season. The Ontario native's extension is believed to be worth around $24 million.
The soon-to-be 24-year-old winger scored a career-high 49 points (28 goals, 21 assists) in 82 games last season, his first with the Flyers. Simmonds spent the first three seasons of his career with the Los Angeles Kings.
