Leafs' van Riemsdyk to play centre heading into camp

Newly-acquired Toronto Maple Leafs left winger James van Riemsdyk says that he plans to spend much of his summer watching video, so that he can make the adjustment to centre, via the Toronto Sun.

A former second-overall draft pick, van Riemsdyk is likely looking to fill the role of a first-line centre, something the Leafs have been lacking for several years. A natural left winger, van Riemsdyk has had some experience at the centre position, prior to his career in the NHL.

Head coach Randy Carlyle said that his plan was to start van Riemsdyk at centre heading into camp, then go from there. If all goes to plan, van Riemsdyk could end up on a line with All-Star forwards Phil Kessel and Joffrey Lupul.
