Report: Flyers offered Parise $110 million

Zach Parise was the prized trophy of this year's free agency, with nearly every team counting their pennies for the opportunity to sign the 27-year-old. In the end it was the Minnesota Wild that won the sweepstakes.

Now, in the aftermath, reports are suggesting that the Philadelphia Flyers offered Parise a contract worth $110 million, according to the Minneapolis Star Tribune.

The Flyers are currently around $8 million under the cap, but with only 13 players under contract for the 2013-14 season, the team had plenty of cap space to play with in the future for a top-tier player like Parise.

Parise ultimately signed in his hometown of Minnesota for $98 million over 13 years, a cap hit of $7.5 million.
