New York Islanders sign Matt Carkner

The New York Islanders have signed former Ottawa Senators enforcer Matt Carkner. Terms of the deal have not been released.

Carkner, who stands at 6-foot-4, 237 pounds, has 361 penalty minutes in 162 career regular season games in the NHL. He has an additional 33 PIMs in 11 playoff games. He has played his entire career to this point with the Senators.

He carried a $700K cap hit in 2011-12.
