Canes re-sign Jordan Staal to 10-year / $60M deal

The Carolina Hurricanes have re-signed centre Jordan Staal to a 10-year contract worth $60 million.
The 23-year-old was acquired in a draft day trade that sent centre Brandon Sutter, defenceman Brian Dumoulin and a first-round pick in the 2012 Draft (defenceman Derrick Pouliot) to the Pittsburgh Penguins.
The terms of the deal are similar to the offer that Penguins general manager Ray Shero had reportedly made to Staal prior to being shipped to Carolina.
Last season, Staal set a career-high with 50 points in just 62 games played.
