Report: Avalanche re-sign Steve Downie

The Colorado Avalanche have signed forward Steve Downie to a two-year contract worth $5.3 million, according to a tweet by Bob McKenzie.

Downie, a 2009 first round selection by the Flyers, recorded 14 goals and 27 assists with the Lightning and Avalanche last season. He was acquired by the Avs in from Tampa Bay in exchance for Kyle Quincy, who was dealt hours later to the Red Wings for defenceman Sebastien Piche.
