Panthers sign GM Tallon to multi-year extension

The Florida Panthers and Executive Vice President and General Manager, Dale Tallon, have agreed to a multi-year contract extension, the team announced. Details of the contract were not made available.

After rebuilding the Chicago Blackhawks from a 14th place team in the Western Conference in the 2005-06 season, to a 4th place team in the 2008-09 season, Tallon was demoted as the GM of the Blackhawks.

In May of 2010 Tallon was hired as the Panthers' general manager. In just two seasons Tallon turned the Panthers from a 15th place Eastern Conference team in the 2010-11 season, to a 3rd place team in the 2011-12 season. The Panthers claimed their first Southeast Division title in franchise history, and made the playoffs for the first time since the 1999-00 season.

Tallon was nominated for the Executive of the Year Award, for the 2011-12 season. The winner will be named at the NHL Awards on June 20.
