Red Wings, Bertuzzi near 2-year extension
The Detroit Red Wings and forward Todd Bertuzzi are close to signing a two-year extension, with an announcement coming as early as Thursday, Bertuzzi's agent told the Detroit Free Press.
The 37-year-old was in the last year of his contract, at $1.93 million per season. His new deal will reportedly have an annual average value of around $2.2 million.
According to Bertuzzi's agent, Pat Morris, the two sides have been working at an extension for a month. "We're working at it, and getting closer," Morris said.
Bertuzzi has 29 points (12 goals, 17 assists) through 54 games with the Wings this season.
