Islanders discussing long-term deal with Nabokov
It appears that one marquee goaltender might be off the market less than a before the NHL trade deadline.
Multiple reports indicate the New York Islanders are in talks with Evgeni Nabokov on a new contract. New York orginally claimed the 36-year-old netminder in January 2011 off waivers and is currently earning $575,000; his deal also includes a no-movement clause.
In 30 games this season, Nabokov has posted a 14-14-0 record with a 2.24 goals against average and a .925 save percentage.
