- LOS ANGELES - Phil Mickelson has a one-shot lead over Pat Perez going into the third round of the Northern Trust Open at Riviera. Mickelson won last week at Pebble Beach.
- LAS VEGAS - Celebrities are out in force for Muhammad Ali, celebrating the boxing great's 70th birthday. Set to appear are Stevie Wonder, David Beckham and Samuel L. Jackson. Gala from 7-11 p.m.
- KRASNAYA POLYANA, Russia - Lindsey Vonn clinches her fifth consecutive World Cup downhill title after placing third in a race on the 2014 Sochi Olympics course won by Germany's Maria Hoefl-Riesch.
- MUNICH - Dereck Chisora of Britain challenges WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko for the title. Chisora slapped the 6-foot-7 Ukrainian at the weigh-in and promises to give Klitschko a beating.
- AIRWAY HEIGHTS, Wash. - Queen Underwood, Claressa Shields and Marlen Esparza can win the first U.S. Olympic women's boxing team trials with one more victory. Card starts 11 p.m.
- ANN ARBOR, Mich. - No. 17 Michigan, undefeated at home, plays No. 6 Ohio State in a game with major Big Ten title implications. The Wolverines are a game behind the Buckeyes. Game starts 9 p.m.
- STORRS, Conn. - The No. 2 Connecticut women try for their 100th straight victory at home when they play St. John's. Game starts 7 p.m.
- LOS ANGELES - Blake Griffin and the Los Angeles Clippers - third in the West - play the surging San Antonio Spurs, winners of nine straight and holding down the No. 2 spot in the West. Game starts 3:30 p.m.
- JUPITER, Fla. - So long, Albert Pujols. Happy trails, Tony La Russa. The World Series champion St. Louis Cardinals have had plenty of upheaval and now enter spring training.
- CLEARWATER, Fla. - The Philadelphia Phillies are counting on offseason acquisition Jonathan Papelbon to help them not only win another NL East title but go all the way in the postseason.
- CHONBURI, Thailand - Ai Miyazato takes a one-stroke lead over top-ranked Yani Tseng after three rounds of LPGA Thailand.
- BIRMINGHAM, England - Jamaican sprinter Asafa Powell runs in a rare indoor race, competing at 60 meters at the Birmingham Grand Prix.
- SALT LAKE CITY - Mitt Romney repeatedly takes credit for turning around the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City following a bribery scandal. But is the credit deserved?
- DOHA, Qatar - There was a time when Victoria Azarenka wanted to quit tennis, a sport she had grown to despise. But she did not quit and is now the Australian Open champion and No. 1 player in the game.
