The Washington Redskins have selected cornerback Kendall Fuller out of Virginia Tech in the third round of the 2016 NFL Draft, 84th overall.

Fuller should become the fourth member of his family to play in the NFL after his brothers Vincent, Corey, and Kyle. He likely would've been selected in the first or second rounds, but tore his meniscus before the 2015 season and only played three games.

With the Redskins recent signing of Josh Norman, Fuller will likely be a depth piece in the secondary who could see time in multiple cornerback sets.

Strengths

  • Confident. Not afraid to match up against any receiver and play aggressive. Trusts his instincts.
  • Twitchy. Uses quick hands and feet to react and make plays.
  • Ball skills. Plays ball in the air very well. Has receiver-like smoothness when playing jump balls.

Weaknesses

  • Gambler. Gets burned playing too aggressive when he thinks he can force a turnover. Can get caught misreading pump fakes and double moves.
  • Doesn't have the recovery speed needed to play so aggressive at the NFL level.
  • Undisciplined. Takes downfield penalties against deep coverage.
  • Injury concern. Missed the final 10 games of junior season and all pre-draft workouts due to a meniscus injury.
