Browns snag OL Spencer Drango in 5th round

Scott Sewell-USA TODAY Sports / Reuters

The Cleveland Browns have selected offensive lineman Spencer Drango out of Baylor in the fifth round of the 2016 NFL Draft.

Drango played left tackle in college, but will likely have to transition to guard or to right tackle with the Browns. With Mitchell Schwartz leaving in free agency, the Browns do have a major hole on the right side of the offensive line, so Drango could compete for that spot. His skills in pass protection means he could be comfortable starting from Day 1 if needed.

Spencer Drango Bio

Position: OL
School: Baylor
College Experience: RS Senior
Height: 6-6
Weight: 315 lbs.

Strengths

  • Started four straight seasons at left tackle for Baylor.
  • Consistently wins with aggressiveness and physicality at the point of attack.
  • Skill set presumably makes him a strong candidate for a transition to guard in the NFL.

Weaknesses

  • Athletic limitations could prevent him from getting downfield efficiently and making an impact at the second level.
  • Will need to refine technique to maintain his production against better competition.
