The Green Bay Packers have selected defensive tackle Kenny Clark out of UCLA with the 27th pick of the 2016 NFL Draft on Thursday.
The versatile lineman helps fill the void left by B.J. Raji's surprising retirement in the offseason, and should fit seamlessly in Dom Capers' complicated defensive unit.
Green Bay allowed 119.1 rushing yards per game to rank 21st in the league, and the Packers will look to Clark to slow down division rival Minnesota and Adrian Peterson twice a year.
Kenny Clark Bio
Position: DT
School: UCLA
College Experience: Junior
Height: 6-3
Weight: 314 lbs.
Strengths
- Has the strength necessary to anchor in the running game against both single- and double-team blocks.
- Easily locates the ball and sheds his block to make play on the ball-carrier.
- Flashes ability to get opponents on their heels with a powerful bull rush in passing situations.
Weaknesses
- Undersized compared to prototypical nose tackle prospects.
- Lack of length may make it difficult to win the leverage battle against NFL interior linemen.
- One-dimensional skill set as a pass-rusher could limit him to a two-down role at the next level.
