Ravens select Stanley to address offensive line

The Baltimore Ravens have selected offensive tackle Ronnie Stanley out of Notre Dame with the sixth overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft.

Stanley, a top-flight pass-protector, gives the Ravens a potential long-term solution at one of the most important positions on the offensive side of the ball.

Though the presence of Eugene Monroe could force Stanley to start his NFL career on the right side, the Ravens presumably selected him so he could take over the left tackle job sooner than later.

Coming off a senior season in which he was voted a consensus All-American, Stanley beat out Laremy Tunsil to become the first offensive lineman selected.

Strengths

• Looks the part of an NFL offensive tackle with ideal size, length, and athleticism.
• Possesses long arms and heavy hands, which allow him to lock onto defenders.
• Near impossible to beat around the edge thanks to his quick, fluid lateral movement.
• Stays calm and collected when he loses hand placement, repositioning himself without panicking.
• Extremely durable. Started every game the past three seasons and has experience at both left tackle (27 starts from 2014-15) and right tackle (13 starts in 2013).

Weaknesses

• Some scouts and NFL personnel have questioned Stanley's mental toughness and work ethic.
• Has a tendency to play too high, leaving his chest exposed.
• Will need to improve his upper-body strength.
• Isn't particularly flashy or aggressive.
