The Oakland Raiders have selected quarterback Connor Cook out of Michigan State with the 100th pick of the 2016 NFL Draft.

Cook is a surprising pick by the Raiders, as they appeared to be confident in their current quarterback situation with Derek Carr as their starter and Matt McGloin as the back up. Cook is projected to compete with McGloin for the back up position.

The Michigan State quarterback was rated among the most pro-ready quarterbacks available in the 2016 NFL draft, but slid down the boards due to character concerns.

The Raiders traded up with the Cleveland Browns for the chance to draft Cook, giving up the 114th and 154th overall picks for the 100th selection.
