The San Diego Chargers have selected defensive end Joey Bosa out of Ohio State with the third overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft.

It's the first shocker of the draft, but perhaps it shouldn't be. The Chargers are in desperate need of help rushing the passer and Bosa was considered a candidate to be selected first overall early in the draft process, before seeing his stock take a bit of a hit following a mediocre performance at the scouting combine.

The Chargers run a 3-4 defensive scheme, so that could mean a move to outside linebacker is in Bosa's future. He reportedly told teams at the combine that he's open to such a move and believes he can be effective whether he rushes with his hand in the dirt or not.

Bosa is the highest drafted player from Ohio State since Orlando Pace was selected first overall in 1997.
