The Chicago Bears have selected cornerback Deiondre' Hall out of Northern Iowa in the fourth round of the 2016 NFL Draft.

Hall was the second defensive back selected by the Bears in the fourth round after picking up safety Deon Bush.

Hall's size allows him to match up with larger receivers or play against tight ends, something the Bears have struggled to defend in recent seasons. He will likely compete to be the Bears nickel or dime cornerback and be developed as a matchup specialist.

Deiondre' Hall Bio

Position: CB
School: Northern Iowa
College Experience: Junior
Height: 6-2
Weight: 199 lbs.

Strengths

  • Hall's exceptional length allows him to disrupt plays even when he's a step behind his opponent.
  • Hall is a very willing tackler and stars in run support, showing great technique while bringing ball carriers down.
  • Drew comparisons to Richard Sherman at Senior Bowl. (Sports Illlustrated)
  • Excels at forcing fumbles, punching the ball out of ball carriers' hands with great form.

Weaknesses

  • Possesses below-average straight-line speed for a cornerback. Compiled an unimpressive 4.68 40-yard dash time.
  • Poor hip rotation allows wide receivers to gain separation on a number of routes.
  • Poor anticipation of routes and is slow to react after the snap. Struggles to recover if beat off the line of scrimmage.
