Olivier Vernon prefers sacks over sex

Olivier Vernon is a very wealthy man after signing a five-year, $85-million deal with the New York Giants, but insists the money won't change him.

In a wide-ranging Q&A with Steve Serby of the New York Post, the 25-year-old defensive end said there's still a lot he wants to accomplish in his NFL career.

"Everybody wants to get compensated for playing the game," Vernon said. "I still have more things to check off right now, and I have plenty of more years left to do that."

Vernon also revealed he's a huge fan of sacks. In fact, he likes them better than sex.

"I think sacks, man," he said. "Sacks are hard to come by."

Some other interesting tidbits from the Q&A:

• The quarterback Vernon would most like to sack but never got the opportunity to is Peyton Manning.
• He doesn't consider Tom Brady a whiner, as others have suggested. "I say he's tough. Sometimes you might see him talking to the ref or something like that, but it's not him whining at all."
• He counts Edgar Davids and Dwyane Wade among his favorite athletes.
• He told Serby the six-game suspension he received while playing at the University of Miami was "probably for eating chicken wings at the game."
