Newly re-signed New York Giants defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul is motivated to get back to being one of the league's most dangerous pass-rushers, and he'll do it without a club protecting his damaged right hand.

On a one-year "show me" deal, Pierre-Paul will likely play with some protective cover on his hand after he lost two-and-a-half fingers in a Fourth of July fireworks accident. However, it won't be a club.

"The reason I came back to New York is because I have unfinished business," Pierre-Paul told SiriusXM NFL Radio. "My hand won't be an issue and I won't play with the club."

He added, "I'm excited about the moves we have made on defense and I'm pretty sure we will get the job done in 2016."

The Giants put a lot of faith in Pierre-Paul's ability to regain double-digit sack form - reportedly forking over $10.5 million to their former first-round pick - and his ability to grip and move offensive linemen will be a major factor in his performance.

In eight games last season, Pierre-Paul recorded one sack and 26 tackles as he worked his way back from the devastating injury.
