Report: Falcons favorite to sign Sanu with $7M per year offer

The Atlanta Falcons have positioned themselves as the favorite to land impending free-agent wide receiver Mohamed Sanu by offering the 26-year-old over $7 million per year, according to Dianna Marie Russini of ESPN.

With Marvin Jones and Travis Benjamin reportedly off the market, Sanu became one of the most attractive free-agent receiver options.

The Falcons were reportedly chasing Benjamin, but after the San Diego Chargers snagged him, it appears they turned their attention to Sanu.

Sanu has spent the first four years of his career with the Cincinnati Bengals, but has never had a 1,000-yard season, often acting as the third or fourth option.

He posted career-highs in 2014, racking up 790 yards on 56 catches, but his production dipped in 2015, when he caught just 33 passes for 394 yards.

Now, it appears Sanu will get the chance to prove he's capable of being a No. 2 wideout, and should get plenty of opportunities playing opposite superstar Julio Jones.
