Green is expected to sign with the Steelers, ESPN.com reports.

Analysis:

Assuming that occurs, Green will no longer have to work behind, or in tandem with Antonio Gates, who will remain with the Chargers, after re-upping with the team Wednesday. Though the Steelers also roster fellow tight end Jesse James, Green would appear to have a clear path toward significant playing time in the Pittsburgh offense, following the retirement of Heath Miller. In 13 games for the Chargers last season, Green set career-high marks with 37 catches, 429 receiving yards and four TDs.
