The New England Patriots and free-agent wide receiver Mohamed Sanu have expressed mutual interest in getting a deal done, according to Jeff Howe of the Boston Herald.
Patriots head coach Bill Belichick has a well-known affinity for Rutgers, where Sanu played college football.
Sanu has been on the radar of several teams, and Howe estimates he could command a contract in the range of $5 million per year, which may be slightly more than the Patriots would be willing to pay.
The 26-year-old experienced a down year in 2015 with 56 catches for 394 yards and no touchdowns.
