Pittsburgh Steelers running back DeAngelo Williams received plenty of flak Monday after unleashing a series of tweets criticizing Peyton Manning and the way he performed last season.

Appearing on ESPN Radio's "Mike & Mike" show Tuesday morning, Williams stood by his comments.

"He was garbage last year," Williams said, per Pro Football Talk.

Williams tweeted that Manning "couldn't play dead in a Western last year" and "without the name would never have been in the NFL anywhere," which was directed at CBS Sports columnist Pete Prisco.

While it's difficult to argue against Williams' claim that Manning played poorly in 2015, many questioned the timing of his tweets.

Williams claimed some of his tweets were taken out of context, but refused to apologize for what he said.

"I stand behind all my tweets," Williams said. "If I tweeted it and I said it, I am not apologizing for it."
